FoodGoblin reviews Dirty Bones in Kensington, the underground BBQ and burgers joint with added cocktails! Its menu was designed by Ross Clarke, ex- Fat Duck chef, and has recently had a revamp to include food pairings with cocktails and some naughty new dishes.
Not a fine dining spot, but a jolly good choice for casual night with pals…if you don't mind getting your fingers sticky!

Dirty Bones is a funky little underground joint off Kensington High Street serving Americana styled, naughtily calorific food. The décor is dark and moody, with quirky lights and a pin ball machine in the cocktail bar area!
I went down to check out its new BBQ and burgers  menu. I started with luscious little pork ribs braised in coca cola that fell off the bone when nibbled. The mains were what can only be described as filthy. A ‘Mac Daddy’ burger of beef patty, topped with short rib and covered in mac ‘n’ cheese, served with chilli fries that were perhaps a little on the messy side. I also tried the dirty dog which was my favourite; topped with pulled pork and crispy onions.
The shakes here are also good – they’re essentially a pint of blended ice cream – never a bad thing, with added shots of booze if you fancy. Dessert was similarly gluttinous – milk ice cream and the moistest chocolate ganache cookie you’ll ever try.
I liked Dirty Bones and I think I’d sum it up by saying it is just that: dirty. 6.5 out of 10 from me.
