Recently I attended the launch of the new offering by Wild Drinks: their Wild Elderflower Spritz. Set on the top the trendy Shoreditch Ace Hotel with views out over the city, a fully stocked bar and BBQ cranking out burgers to the 300 odd attendees, this was one hell of a party.
The Wild Elderflower Spritz is a sparking perry based drink with gin and elderflower blended through. I thought it was absolutely cracking: light, floral and utterly moreish. Dangerously so; at 5,6% it packs more of a hit than you’d guess on tasting it.
I tried it in various forms: in a cocktail with rose, cassis and apple juice, and in another with cana brava rum and grapefruit. To be frank, I liked it best neat, simply garnished with some ice and lime. I drank many of them.
